Nitrogen is considered to be the most important nutrient. Plants absorb more nitrogen than any other element and it is found in all plant cells. Nitrogen is so vital because it is a major component of chlorophyll, the compound in the plants that is responsible for photosynthesis process. It is also a major component of amino acids, the building blocks of proteins. Without proteins, plants wither and die. Some proteins act as structural units in plant cells while others act as enzymes, making possible many of the biochemical reactions on which life is based.
Nitrogen can be supplemented with mineral fertilizers during the growth periods. See hereunder Triferto’s broad range of nitrogen fertilizers.
